The Lexington Theatre Company
The Lexington Theatre Company combines national Broadway stars, local actors, and aspiring young artists to bring high-caliber productions to Central Kentucky. Local and aspiring young actors learn through mentorships with Broadway professionals and, in turn, professional actors are reinvigorated by the actors-in-training. These shared experiences bring elevated performances to the local community. We embarked on a project with their team to create a refined visual and verbal identity that resonates with their work.
We started the creative process with a language workshop with the founders. We explored their core values, their goals, and listened to how they talk about themselves. The result is direct, exuberant language representing their organization’s bright viewpoint. For the logo, we drew inspiration from an architectural element found in many theatres, the proscenium arch. Abstracted and multiplied, the logo speaks to the connection enabled by the theater. The connection between the actors and the audience. Between the performance and the community. Paired with typography bigger and louder than the page, the cumulative visual and verbal identity is as bold as the organization.
