The Northeast Maglev: High-Speed Rail

The Northeast Maglev is a proposed high-speed rail system that will connect the New York/DC corridor. It’s an ambitious project that could revolutionize train technology in the US. Unlike conventional railway systems, SCMAGLEV technology accelerates and decelerates not by force generated by a mechanical motor, but through a magnetic force generated between the onboard superconducting magnets and electromagnetic coils in a guideway. Needless to say, a project with this kind of impact requires a great deal of information for the inevitable flurry of questions, concerns, and intrigue it will generate. In response, we were asked to design a website to serve as the primary information resource for the project.

While we understood the site needed to be an information resource, we also knew the information needed to be conveyed in a simple and organized manner. Because some of the technology is complex, the site needed to be approachable and easy to understand. It needed to quell anxieties and answer questions with facts. When and where it could, it needed animations and graphics that would clearly demonstrate the innovations proposed. The result is a site that does all of the above.
